..i never experienced to have a girlfriend...
but, maybe say "i love you" will show that you'r love her.

ok. if you'r already have a girlfriend maybe make a romantic poet to her is a good one..
if both of you are really busy with your own... sending flower to her maybe a good choice.

1) give her special attention, (LISTEN TO HER HELPS!)
2) taking her out to a romantic dinner would be the start as well
3) dnt give her a bunch of flowers, jus a single rose will do if she likes it
4) chocolate/candy is sssoooo predictable (no-no)
