Thread: Love Nowadays - Degraded?

this is a touchy subject ...

I know what love means to me:
to love someone is to care about them deeply
to not be able to imagine your life without them
to want to be close to them and protect them even with your life
to never hurt them intentionally
to be able to forgive them for whatever they do but also to see them for who they truely are
also ... Love takes time to grow

there's no such thing as love at first sight
thats a line used by stupid people
when you dont know a peorson you cant love them
it's only Lust
and the two shouldn't be counfused

I know what love means to me ...
but I also have Eyes and Ears
and I've seen and heard the way people treat love these days...
they throw it away like at every chance
to aquaintances and strangers
people who they wouldn't bother to attend their funerals ...
who they wouldnt cry for
who they would abandon at a whim ...

and even though love can be the best thing to happen to a person
this makes me want to run from it
because wiith so many people taking it so lightly
how would you know when its being given to you sincerely?

and I believe
if you can cheat on someone ... you dont love them
and its so sad this happens so often

in the end ...
love isnt what it once was ...
so I agree it's being degraded now-a-days

I'm not so sure that they do it purposely to hurt each other. Because if that were the case... then they wouldn't really be in love now, would they? The both of them might need help, and the only people that can cheer them on and motivate them are each other.

Love without loyalty is meaningless. Not to mention it's a sin. That I would call false love at best. That's that. Don't wanna hear some excuse for it, cause it will be just as false. But, I won't judge anyone and will respect there lifestyle as it's their lives, .

Can't be that in love if they are willing to do that, but that's just my thoughts.

My aunt said she did it because she thought he had cheated on her. And he said he couldn't help it. Whether or not they love each other I don't know, but their not the only ones I know that do that sort of thing. My own mother and her ex-husband did the same thing. They said they were in love too.That's why I say love is loosing it's meaning. It's used more freely. Plus they "love" each other by not just cheating on each other either, but by lying, doing things in spite of the other, and keeping other secrets that shouldn't be kept. IDK...

Again, I'm young and haven't really had a "love" relationship. Love even in my family seems to be buying people things to make them happy. That's great and all, but I want more sometimes. Then watching my family with the people they "love" makes me not want it. (I know there are others who truely love each other in the world, but they are the ones I'm around most. The ones I'm like most.)

That is not love.... so u really haven't been around real love... but see it this way... you have the examples of what love isn't about. You can make the difference ther where you are. I really hope u find the real love...
I am concern 'cos many ppl as the ones that soround u have make of love a mere word that comes from the head......... and Yes love has become degrated and meaningless because love has become a "thing that u say when u feel good"

Ok i dont think that its love thats degraded but the meaning of romance. Love has turned into lust and romance has completly washed away. Loving a person is when u feel comfortable with the person annd u feel as if u cannot go on without that certain person. Lust is being sexually attracted by another person.
