entering the military lifestyle is a big responsibility... i believe it's a double edged sword... it can do as much damage to you, as much as it can help you win... it's just in the way you use it.

i hope you come to the right decision! ganbatte ryoga-kun!
You have good points there about being in the military but there is so much more I think that people forget to see when they are in the enlistment office. They have to follow the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). It's has it's good points and bad. The one think that I don't like is if you are walking on base (or off...it doesn't matter) and get stopped by someone that out ranks you, you have to respect him even if he shows no respect. I've run into a few instances that happened to me. Also, the other people in the military just seem too arrogant now-a-days because young people are gaining rank too fast and start to think that they know everything there is even though they've only been in for 4 years. Or maybe I think I just lost enthusiasm for being in the military that I once had.

Well i'm just getting ready to leave my civilian life. Civilian life can be a bore at times. Especially if you live in a small town like I do.

    Honor Courage Commitment.

The military is making me tired so what do you think I should do? Get out and try to find that job out there that everyone is looking for OR stay in and make a career out of this life for 12 more years??

    Thanks for all the responses.
Honestly thats a tough decision to make and you gotta think of the pro's and con's. Seriously though most people I know who have hit the 10 year mark in the military are staying in until they are eligible for retirement. I mean you might as well get all the benefits you can out of the military if you have been serving the country for that long. Plus I had a friend who did get out of the military early and then go back in a few years later. He said the military life was way better then civilian because at least you are guaranteed a job and won't get fired easily, well unless u do something dumb.

Being a civilian is cool because you aren't forced to go to war and you can do what you want without Uncle Sam cracking the whip to much. Finding a job though can be touch and depending on were you work your not always guaranteed health/life insurance. Plus u can also state your opinion about whatever and not have to worry about getting yelled at by the government to much :P.

Haha sometimes I wish I had joined the military cause I would have a way better job then now ......less debt too.

hey... just follow your heart... whatever it says... you will eventually realize that you have made the right decision... the heart always is a confusing part of you, but when it comes to what you want and need for self discovery, the heart rarely is wrong... wish you all the best ryoga! you can do it...

The civiallian life can be complicated. But it would be my choice in your shoes. You can have an easier life by getting an easy job that you dont have to get up early for or if you like getting up early then you can find a job that gives your day off. You dont have to worry about all the training (depending on your job) and for the most part relax

    Re: Military or Civilian life??

people constantly debate about this topic because of the equal arguments. people believe that the military life is a great life because you get experience with working with other people, great communication skills, and you are serving your country. but the problem is that you always have some chance of going to war and getting killed. the only way to be in the army and have 100% guaranteed ur life is to take a desk job. a civilian life for the other hand has so many good points. one, its safe and normal, and yes boring too, leaving you with a gap in your head thinking...what am i going to do next. finding a jjob is difficult and you have to be specialized in some fields to get a certain job, where in the army, most people are accepted. with civilian life you have a chance to raise a family, and just to live normally. i rele cant answer your question, its too big of a question. sit down with your family and your loved ones (if you can) and discuss your next move.

    Re: Military or Civilian life??

Hmm civilian life if it's for me ^^

I have more freedom than being in the military... tight schedule,...early mornings... curfews...i'll even miss many things others are having... :/ The pay is not much... the future is not too certain... i rather get protected than protecting xD

Hmm..the going to war thingy is not certain... ^^ if you look at malaysian army.. they all look like tough guys in a camp doing nothing much but train all day and learn things about combat...

I saw a platoon training by carrying a big log of wood on their back and run up the hill...i wonder where they went... i tried lifting that wood... damn heavy i tell ya @.@

    ^^

    Re: Military or Civilian life??

okay... just to make it plain and simple for ryoga... the best way i can make it simple...

    1. do you want to be responsible for the lives of the people?
    2. do you want to defend your motherland?
    3. do you want discipline in your life?
    4. do you want medals of honor?
    5. do you want to die with honor?

just answer that... it will make your decision a bit easier...

just put it this way... it's not the question of whether you need it or not... the question is...

can you live the rest of your life as a military person?

just put it that way... do you want it for you? just follow your desire!
