Well, since I KNOW I am a nerd, this is what I say makes me a nerd.

- My facination over Star Wars
- I play DnD (My Sorcerer Elve!!!) AND Warhammer (40k, ELDAR FTW!!!! I'm still looking for someone to play Fantasy with)
- I love DC and MArvel comics
- I've read the Dictionary (a while back)
- I just say I am one

Otherwise I say it does depend on what you say.

Back in High School most of the few friends i had called me a nerd, though i consider myself to be a geek given the fact that i socialize with people and do things normal average people do.

This is what makes me a geek;

- I play RPGs and MMORPG's
- Mess with computers and computer software
- Took some Geometry/Trigonometry classes for fun (though i have forgotten everything i learned)
- Graduated with a 3.5 out of 4.0 GPA, i was 66th out of 300 graduates
- I know some C+ programming and also i am lazy (^__^)

Its how you define nerd and if anyone you know fits the profile of yout term of nerd. Does the term nerd means someone who know so much about everything. You cant call a doctor or a scientist a nerd as they know all the scientific terms. its their field of expert and they studied to get that job

I do not believe in the concept of the word "nerd"
just people people are a little bit different form the "regular" society and they dress a little bit different and they are smarter does not give us the right to make fun of them or generalize them...
"geeks" are just like the other groups, the Goth and the Emo...
I see nothing wrong with them at all.....they tend to be very funny and sweet and introverted...but that is cool with me...I respect that

A nerd is a bookish individual, intellectual; nerds often keep to themselves or hang around with those who have been rejected by others. I was classified as a nerd in high school (part of the "Nerd Herd"), but the kids at school fortunately liked us. We played a very important roll in helping people with homework, listening and solving drama, etc. We were pretty boss. It is an honour to be called "nerd" in my books.

I think that most people could and would call me a "nerd" DnD and those other things are still fun... But do you really think that a "nerd" needs to be really smart... well thats what I think and it can or cann't affect you... o well...

I always thought there was a difference between geek and nerd. Geek being those who rant about the Lord of the Rings books being better than the movie(Well..they were!), Star Wars, D&D, niche video games, etc., and nerd being more focused on academic endeaverers(That is so not a word..), people who love them some computers, Calculus, Physics, and so forth.

I think it's supposed to be derrogatory, but I'm not sure how...

Rather a differant explantion of what is commonly accepted. Geek is a much more suitable word.

The fact that I took the time to find and share this with you must mean that I'm a Geek/nerd.
