I heard that people at anime conventions like to act a fool. Has anyone here been to a convention and witnessed this?

I have been on anime conventions and like in everything there is always someone that really thinks that knows all about anime adn everybody is wrong.... and that he/she can perfectly copy an anime character even thought that makes him/her look stupid (if one wants a good laugh don't tell them anything... just watch... it is worthy it the laugh... ) he/she does not realize that even when everyone is laughing and talking about him/her....

Muwahaha there is always a crazy fool or creepy person walking around at Anime conventions. Guess it goes with the territory...... One such creepy guy is Man Faye and he is just god awful scary. I think he is considered an icon at Anime Expo in Long Beach and if you browse the web with his name you will see lots of pics of him ugh.

*Shrudder* I bet I will see him there this year wah!

Well... if there's anyone who acts stupid during an anime convention it's probably me. If you ever go for a convention in Malaysia (or, subsequently, NY) and see someone who looks like me but is decked in some anime character's outfit (for cosplaying purposes), running all over the place squealing in foreign languages about carrot girls and the Sol Bianca and whatnot, it's me all right.

Unless of course, you had something else in mind associated with "fool"...

You see a lot of things in a con. The ugly and the good but they're all the same. I just do my manga shopping spree with my friends and ignore them and occasionally laugh at them.

"Act a fool?" I had hoped I would never hear someone actually use that term. There goes the English language.


Of course people are going to be acting foolish, it is a collection of eccentric people who are surrounded by eccentric people. Since they are no longer surrounded by people who will judge them or who will ever see them again, people over exaggerate their own eccentricities and it's quite a site to be seen.

I wonder if anyone still has pictures of me and the sign I carried around at Otakon 2004.

Sign? Sign? I once made a floppy sign out of cardboard to bring to a Con. It read: "Want Yuu Watase behind bars for soppy tales? Follow me!"

I was followed by a bunch of angry fans. ^^;; Thankfully there was no riot. For the most part people just laughed and called me really weird. Which I am not exactly afraid to admit I am. I think we looked a scream, though, a few of us anti-Watase people and a larger horde of fans yelling at us. If they hadn't taken me so seriously they probably would've enjoyed the convention a lot more.
