i think that's the best sentence in this thread!

also, pirates are drunk a lot of the time and it's really hard to fight a drunk person~

Especially if they are Irish. Now that would be a sight.

An Irish, drunk, ninja pirate with a flaming beard. I would really love to see someone fight against that.

Dude, ninja's all the way. I like the sneaky sneaky and assassination type, pirates are more "RAAAAAWR YA BETTER WATCH OUT THERE CUZ I'M A GONNA GET YEAH" any there very blunt. Plus, it takes more skill to be a ninja.

...that has to be one of the funniest pirate impressions ever.

I like ninjas meself, but I don't doubt the skill of a pirate.
It takes more skill to be a ninja, but that doesn't deny the skill a pirate CAN have.
And with the idea that you don't need much other than sea-legs to be a pirate, pirates come in large numbers.
Good leadership and a good crew can still topple the best of warriors.

...it's like the idea of the Romans: not all of them were hardened soldiers, and they faced extremely strong, skilled, and powerful warriors and still beat them. What made the Romans powerful was their teamwork.

...ninjas, not so much. It's rather ridiculous how several forms of media make it look like they sent 30+ ninjas everytime to do a single job.
Not only would that be a waste of money, but that'd leave them (them being the ones who own / pay for the ninjas) wide open for any infiltration without their ninjas on hand for other missions.
On average, the most that were sent were... like 4.

And here's the thing, I'd have to say that an assassin (the original assassins) could do a better job than a ninja under normal circumstances.

    Re: Pirates vs. Ninjas

    Pirates have:
    -hooks for hands
    -little swords
    -...beards -_-

    Ninjas have:
    -stealth
    -shurikens
    -katanas
    -kunai knives
    -poisonous gas
-are trained to show virtually no emotion

    soooo ninjas ftw =D

    Re: Pirates vs. Ninjas

    ...little swords? O_o
Ya' understand that certain swords were used for different styles to fight, right?
The size of the sword doesn't determine the battle, it's the style and skill of the user.
And the best pirates could easily take down a regular ninja, afterall they were renown for the amazing swordplay.

And mind you, the ninjas' weapons depended completely on which clan they belonged to and who was paying for them.
As deadly as ninjas were, there's a good reason why they died rather easily when they faced a samurai-head-on.

    Also, katanas? Really?
No, katanas weren't used by ninjas, they were used by samurais. They were solely for samurais until the name of samurais became rather tainted. At that point, katanas were given to practically anyone who had the money for it (not as finely-tuned as they were for the original samurai, but still a katana).

Katanas are semi-long curved swords, made for slashing enemies.
Ninjas don't slash. Ninjas slashed in order to parry blows, but not to strike at the enemy.

If you've ever seen a real ninja sword, they're straight. Completely straight, no curve.
Their swords were meant for stabbing, finishing the enemy off quickly.
Because the longer a ninja's in a fight: The bigger the chance that they're going to die.

Sure ninjas were stealthy, quick, and well-equipped - but they often died rather quickly. They weren't exactly well-armored.
