![]() Credits: 10,173 | precious childhood toys Ok I was looking back at some of my childhood pictures and I found one of my hugging my giant bunny soft toy. I still have the thing to this day. Shows how much of a kid I am. Also I kept it because I moved away from my hometown and it reminds me of my friends and family still there. Well I was thinking if anyone does too? So.. -Do you have a percious childhood toy? -Do you have it to this day?

![]() ![]() Credits: 13,587 | Re: precious childhood toys I have been having difficulties with this question, honestly. Mostly because I just wasn’t one of those kids that clung to any specific toy. I usually just played outside all the time. If I had to name one toy, though, I would have to say it would be a Barbie doll that I had that I called Elizabeth. It was special to me because it was a bit different compared to other Barbies because it had really long blonde hair (it reached to her ankles). For some reason that made it very special because it made me feel like I had some one of a kind Barbie. I remember I would go through small phases where I would brush through her hair and try to carry her around with me everywhere. I would usually tire of doing this after about 2 days, though, and go back to playing outside. And well . . . no I don’t have it anymore. I actually sold it at a yard sale. . . . yeah it was really special to me. ![]()

Newbie | Re: precious childhood toys I remember a lil model airplane I used to have when I was really young. Around 8-9y old I think. I used to have a really good friend during my first school years those days. After school we would grab our armies of plastic soldiers/tanks etc and more or less put them up against each other. Whenever I was over at his place I’d look over his collection of planes and stare at a British Hurricane from WW II until he snapped me out of it. When we got our first major argument over a girl we didn’t speak for days, but one day I came home and found a box with that plane in it. My mother told me my friend came by and left that and a note for me. We got over it and spend some great times after that. Unfortunately the friendship broke some years later when we ended up in separate schools. So did the airplane when I moved into new chambers and accidentally shoved it off its shelf. Needless to say I miss those old days tho. |

![]() ![]() Credits: 59,230 | Re: precious childhood toys I did not really play with toys . . . I was the freakish child in the corner with his glasses sliding down his nose as he poured over an old copy of Anna Karenina . . . The best toy was probably the yo-yo*. My grandfather spent hours teaching me tricks. I remember I got my first black eye from a botched trick I was trying to master . . . Ouch. Not that I told anyone it was from a yo-yo . . . That would have been humiliating; they'd never have let me hear the end of it! *Trivia Fact: Yo-yos were originally designed to be weapons. Glad that fell through. Can you imagine wars with yo-yos?!

![]() ![]() Credits: 23,863 | Re: precious childhood toys Interesting. Now, can I do this in a way that doesn't make me sound weird... ![]() Well, I gotta admit, I can be considered a bit of a big kid, but something I've still got from my youth is a Rigadoon named Dan. For those who didn't know, Rigadoons were fabric puppets about 80 cm tall, all with different faces & "personalities". The one I got was Dan, which is also the first 3 letters of my name. Must have been around 6-7 when I got him, cause my brother got one too, but my sister wasn't even born yet. He might have been just a puppet, but having him there helped me get through some tough times. Still got the bugger too. Sure, he's got lumps of dust on him, a hole in his neck, & he's wearing nothing but a "Great Keppel Island" shirt, his actual clothes long gone, but I've still got him in my room. He's also wearing a Canteen bandanna I brought not long ago, since it turns out his head is just as big as mine, just flatter. I'll probably keep him around for ages, maybe repair him & pass him on to the next generation, if they treat him well. He's kinda always been there, & most likely will be for a long time to come... Damn, so much for not sounding weird... ![]()
