so how do you raise your pets?

Pets are a major responsibility. You can't just take one in, play with it for one day, and never think about it again. People don't get that. They play with the puppy until it's a grown dog, then push it away and wonder why it's started to bite people.

That doesn't mean that you should lavish your pet in everything on the market. I don't pay the vet to run thousand dollar tests on a dog I got from the pound for fifty bucks. I don't force my dog into ridiculous little sweaters that she will only shred. I don't feed her caviar and mutton because she's a DOG . . . she eats DOG FOOD.

I can't stand people that buy pets WITHOUT DOING REASEARCH!!

I admit, I was one of them when I brought my Hermit Crabs. I thought enough 'research' was talking to pet store owner...clearly after a quick search on the net, they knew nothing! And I was left hurrying around buying stuff they actually needed to set them up before the stores closed.

But people do that with dogs aswell. I read an article in the paper, how people were buying all these small dogs only because celebrities were (dumb celebrities who walk around with the poor things in their handbags). The results, heaps of them being dump because the owners know nothing about training the little terrors.

We have a really active dog. So we made sure she knew from the start she knew exactly what we expected. When we first brought her home she rounding us up..oh boy did she learn quickly from that XD

you just think of how you would feel as whatever you're raising... if you were a puppy and no one played with you and you were cooped up in the house all day, wouldn't you be a little frisky? if someone constantly bothered you, would you get angry?

what's important is that the love for your new friend is shown not through your gushing over him, but in his warm bed, full bowl and long walks...

To raise a pet is very fun if u are commited and enjoy doing it.. and love them of coarse.. but i don't have anymore pets now.. *sighs*

we have a cat i can't say i own it because it doesn't enter the inside of the house but always stays at our garden and we feed it it's very spoiled ... it has three kittens now and they're just lovely and cute

@.@ ahh same here...i got 4 kittens which don't belong to me..always come for food...damn cute kittens...too hard to resist them, thus...they kept coming for food and crap everywhere -.- sheesh...

I have a pet cat named Kanga (from the word "kangaroo").

In times, she tends to meow non-stop but I can't get mad because she is cute. I do agree that raising pets is a tough job but if you treat them as your buddy, everything will flow smoothly. I seldom give orders to my cat (keep quiet, stay, out) and she tends to follow. If she done something bad, I scold her as if she is a little child. "Treat you pets good and they'll treat you good in return". It is a mutual relationship.

Having a pet is not having a toy... it is way different.
