Everyone seems so proud of their Japanese noodle fetish and seems to think it adds to their Japanophile geek cred-- O-o; Is now a good time to bring up that ramen is actually Chinese food?

Ramen, cheap, microwaveable ramen... When I first immigrated here to America, that and rice made up half of every meal I ate. Good times, good times. For school, I brought uncooked ramen with the seasoning. Even without the seasoning, ramen was still pretty good.
Now ramen has too much sodium. I eat it still, maybe once every two months, uncooked and as a snack, but that's all.
To clear this up, all I ate was not just half ramen and half rice. But every meal I ate, one of them made half of it.

Like Tsurara said, Ramen originated in China. All that aside, I do eat Ramen noodles; as a matter of fact; back in collage, when I lived in the dorms, ramen became a staple diet in our room. Cheap and easy ta make. Ahh... Memories. Kiddin' aside, I can' really complain 'bout ramen, I actually like the stuff. I especially like the ramen in a cup, I think that it's better than the stuff in the packages.![]()

Actually, the person who created ramen died several thousands of years ago. It is documented in Japan in the 17th century and likely originated in China's Q'ing Dynasty...
The guy who created the instant ramen died recently though. I wonder if it was from stomach cancer? :P
