Thread: This is a small world.

I think the world is getting smaller.. ^^ Well.. if you see carefully.. wilderness is slowly fading when more humans occupy the place... Theres almost no more place without humans... sheesh.. and technology is making it smaller like what Laura said..

You can meet people from miles away on holiday here.. talk to them.. be friends... and some would come back the next year just for a visit.. which is cool.. and now having internet... im actually talking to people who i don't even know from miles away and make close friendships with them... I enjoy this... lol.. ^^ I love making new friends.. but im usually too shy to start one... Internet is the best method to talk to another to me

I soo agree! Except not just with the internet but wiht the fact that my best friend her name is Sadie, it turns out that her mom's sister and my mother were best friends when they were in 6th grade, and that my oldest frinend Don used to live in the cites down south when we were younger, then we both moved and ended up going to the same school and becomeing frinedns in like 3rd grade, but we didnt knwo we used to live a few blocks away till my sophmore year! Its weird and really cool! we found out that when we talked about the places we lived when we were younger! its way cool!

There are other instances but those are just two!

I wish the world would just get along, every one wants happiness! But they think to get happiness they want control so that why there are fights and war, but i better go be fore i start rambling too! ^.^

The world isn't never getting small. It's not shrinking or anything, our technology is just growing. Sure we can talk to people in just a click but that doesn't mean that the world is getting small. It just seems like it.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing? And why?

I think it's a good thing that our technology is growing.. It does wonders for international travel and affairs. At the same time though it's not a good thing because people are using it to their advantage and that's just not right. We're always wondering about neuclear weapons and things like this... it's not healthy. We're destroying the world.

yes,well this world is getting small ... because there is many human on this world and you can reach them so easily and that because the continuity of technology and invent know things that help humans in different ways ....

it is good thing because with this technology you can contact with everyone and you can meet people even they are in the other side from the earth .... and everyone like to make new friends and the best way is using internet like everyone here does ... for me i have never talk to a boys before i just have talked to the boys in my family members and every time i talk to a boy i feel shy but here i have many friends of boys ... =^_^=

Ok you shouldn't view this saying that literally, of course the world is not shrinking; the question is exactly about whether the earth seems to us smaller.
This made me also remember that maybe we could say that the world has gotten bigger in the meaning that we know more of it, live in more of it, but then I thought that it doesn't really matter, because while I can probably see more (if I'm rich enough), I might not enjoy it that much, because it's just normal to travel, and I have so much less to dream about, wonder about. I don't know, it just makes me sad and bored. I don't like technology and stuff but it's just the way I am
Also... I don't appriciate the technology that much, appart from health and maybe education. If there were no computers, no TV's etc, I would be much healthier, if there were no light, no electricity I would get enough sleep, if there was no such communication I wouldn't right now be terribly in love with a man, who lives so far away I might never even see him; if there were no robots, no cool technologies, more poeple would be employed (though there would be less productivity, less growth, less people, but is that also that bad?). But it's just how I view the world again, I don't think that much of a growth and stuff is really needed, I myslf would be happy to live in a forest in a little hut, if only I could have my family, my love and my dreams.

i am afraid if the world will shrinking ... if the world shrink that mean we have to fight for space *running a way* .... maybe we can contact with someone one the other side from the world and that all because of the technology that human create but if we say that people can contact with others freely even if the one you are talking to on the other side from earth and for technology world is shrinking but for real the world is world no matter what we do the world will be the world that we live on .... =^_^=
