    Taking things too far

People seem to be LOOKING for offenses these days and will do anything to pick a fight. For example, Australian Father Christmases now have to say "ha ha ha" rather than the centuries-old traditional "ho ho ho" for fear of offending women.

Is this going too far? When should "offensive" exceptions be made?

That's absurd! Although I'm against Christmas and all it's festivities, I still believe that stuff like that shouldn't be changed for such a stupid reason.

Censorship has been going too far since the day it was invented. The whole political correctness crap is so utterly worthless that it almost becomes funny.

    Re: Taking things too far

ok frankly thats just stupid I really dont care about the whole thing with that but still
they have no right to say that they have to change what they say. And he isn't actually saying the word hoe!
Santa has been saying that word long before the word hoe even came around.

And besides if anyone wants to get on someone about being offensive then they should just go look on youtube. There is so much stuff there yet they are going to go after the one thing that is not meant to be offensive.

So what if it can be used as a joke?
It's like a freakin' tradition since it was created!
I think they're going to far and shouldn't officialize it.

    Re: Taking things too far

I think that we should resort back to the old traditions. I mean when they started saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas...that was what pissed me off. I mean think about it. When we start doing that it's all over. If it's such an offensive things maybe these woman should wear ear plugs when they walk out in public.

    Re: Taking things too far

From what I'm hearing the main reason for the conversion (if any) was because it was 'scaring the children', though I have no doubt that part of it is because of an 'offensive word'.

But hey, that's what happens when you get one person complaining about it, you get shopping centres fearing they will be sued over pathetic things.

Trust me, I doubt very much that this will stick, nor do I think people will enforce it. It' just a one of thing that won't stick.

A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself.
    so really, it is only one company that's doing it and there not really enforcing it. From what I've read and heard anyways ^_^;;
