Text book prices suck. I've been lucky so far in my degree, I've only really had to buy one overpriced book, but it has a lifetime value in my career anyway - it's going to be with me a long time. All the other have been $50-60 brand new and or $15 Uni book of readings (Aust currency). The rest I simply spent an extra day at the uni and use the text books up there. No use paying $100 for a book I'm only going to use once.
I don't mind paying for overpriced text book - provided that they made classes cheaper!
