The book companies claim that the reason they have to sell them for so much is because everyone resells them and they have to charge more in order to make a profit. SO remember, it's the fault of people like me who buy used books.

Okay, that I can't really argue, too bad I'm a business major so I see what their excuse is. Low volume high price.

Yeah most of the major related books I do keep, even though the knowledge is probably going to be obselete in a few years. Tuition price, we can't really challenge that, because there such a thing call inflation.

I attend university and work in the campus bookstore. I want lower priced textbooks . . . so do my managers! It's not the bookstores who are raising the price, but the publishers are. It's bloody miserable, the situation, but - like Legend said - we are slaves to inflation.

I've always heard about the terrible prices of textbooks, and i especially agree with Legend's statement about how they rarely ever change in a new adition, yet after that your book is nigh worthless.

i have more than 3 times the money i need for college through scholarships, and i dont think that the College im going to is too bad about making you have a certain book. however, i still think it is terrible to do such a thing to young students.

Geez... price raise is almost in everything... It's all thanks to petrol's price getting raised...

Imagine.. 20 cent up on petrol.. and everything must be up 20 cent too -.- wth? I can even finish my RM 50 within 1 day easily... the money's value here has really decreased and inflation has been rising steadily here... I wonder how it is in America... From what i learned... lifestyle in UK sure is expensive.. o.O

Hmm price gouging on students... gee... can't the government subsidise the book or give away free text book for low income parent's childrens...? Government here does so... really helps ^^ i got free textbook for a few years since my family is quite poor... now my siblings are enjoying that feature.. but i don't think price on book should be raised just because of the economy... :/ students need those books to ensure their future!

yeah, this isnt really about books, but i heard on the news last night that all the oil companies have made more money in the last 3 months than they ever have (well into the billions) so why cant they lower the price of refined gas? if they do that, the prices of everything else will be lowered as well.

I also attend a university for my masteral and the prices of the books are really like crazy. i ended up asking or borrowing books this semester from either upper classmen from the campus sorority house or one of the teaching assistants.totally not helping since the university requires a b+ or better gpa

There is such things, at least for my school but there were so many limitations that I just gave up using the program. You have to do all these documentations and paperworks, one slight error and you have to type it up again...on top you have to freaking return the book while finals are going on...
