    Re: Trouble remembering things

It helps me to re-write what I've just learned acoule of times and to talk about it to other people that way its on my mind all the time. During tests it helps to take a deep breath, maybe even close your eyes, and then try to remeber. It helps you to relax and its easier to bring things forth from your mind. And LenMiyata is right get yourself plenty of sleep the day before. If you can write on the test, write down what you can remeber and that may help you with what you don't, that always helps me when I'm taking my spanish quizzes.

Our love will go on until the end of time. I will always be yours and you will be mine.

    Re: Trouble remembering things

Exam of your life = SPM? STPM? Pre-U finals?

Okay, I'm probably one of the world's greatest procrastinators. But that's only because I find that I study much better under pressure, and I only start feeling the pressure a couple of days before the actual paper. Believe it or not, I only actually got down to studying for O Levels a week before it began. +__+ Definitely not something everyone should be doing, but it does work for some people...

It helps to take notes. You try to stuff everything in your head and then reproduce what you just read (in point form, of course, or a diagram) on paper. You'll be doing written tests anyway, so jotting down in this way is probably one of the best ways to get things into your head.

Another method I use is turning what I study into songs. Sometimes I make up little tunes or rhythms for a series of words. This is pretty handy for subjects like Geography when you have to memorise, for example, all the names of hot deserts in the Asian continent. Worked fine for me, and some of my friends

I noticed Alex mentioned the three core Science subjects. Okay, I hated Bio and Chemistry but loved Physics, and truthfully I studied Bio and Chem minimally... so the fact that I got A1's for both subjects just means that the standard of education's REALLY low. That, or I'm good at guessing MCQ answers. The thing with Physics is, you either know or you don't know. People who have trouble with Physics from the very beginning don't get very far even with a lot of study, because, well, it's just one of those subjects IMO. I had friends who were good in everything else BUT Physics, and I could never understand why they just couldn't get the hang of the concepts (esp electromagnetism, most girls hate that, but guys are usually good in that area). Only solution: Practice, practice, practice. And if you're sitting for the SPM, be thankful that the questions are usually similar each year. The 2005 paper was so easy that I actually did it in both languages. +__+ So much for trying to make students smarter.

Sleep? Ha. I made it on 4 hours a day on average. What I normally do is go to sleep immediately after studying, and hug my book to sleep. For some weird reason, it works... as in, it actually helps the stuff stay in my head.

Uh, you only have to write down what's relevant. For example, if you're doing a Bio paper and the question has to do with vitamin deficiency-related diseases, you only have to scribble down all you remember about vitamin deficiencies. Don't bother wasting time doing that for MCQs, though. You should just zap through those and spend the next 1-2 hours on the subjective questions.

You're from Malaysia right? then you'll know the fact that if you don't get A in SPM then you can't do well in A level and others that are most advanced e.g STPM, UEC. . . (what's MCQ?) and you sleep 4 hours a day? I sleep 4 hours a day and I was asleep in class! Btw, how do you turn stuff into songs? Well anyways sometimes I used to remember stuff by actually looking at the proofs provided and thats how I remembered my trigonometry of AM2's formula(form 2 standard of course.) Well Of the three science I can't even remember a thing after I sat for a small test coz it's like it can be used one time only. . .

    Re: Trouble remembering things

    I have the same problem...
I'll do well when I am studying, and I feel confident that I know the info. Then when test day comes I blank out sometimes...
I use flashcards. The key for me to retain the info is having someone help me. I study the cards, then have someone ask me the questions. I'm lucky I have some awesome study buddies! ^_^
