War!

lol ^^ ok Sprout, you seem not to be able to tell a story without making it a bit funny ^^ Great story, and you're very lucky.

This reminded me that my aunt went to Iraq. She was a nurse, so I guess she didn't see much action... I didn't talk to her much, but everyone was a bit stressed about her every day... And from what she told you could understand that it's not really such a nice place to be.. you could feel the pressure she had there radiating from her after she came back. But oh well, each experience is worth remembering. And I have a feeling that to have some new experience was the main reason she went. And we got some souveniers too!!! ^^

So shes a nurse thats a tough job and to go to iraq and face all the death and sadness that will be a experience a pretty tough experience to handle so how long wa she there and were was she i mean what part of iraq when i say were.

I've got a friend who went to Iraq and he's back. He's Eastern Indian, so everybody there thought he was an Iraqi or somethin'. They would speak to him in Arabic and all he could say was, "Not the translator," LOL. :laugh:

But here's the funny part. He's riding with a couple medics in a Hummer, they end up getting shot at, my friend is tryin' to use the door as cover and a medic gets out, shuts the door and my friend gets shot in the ass. He's screamin' and the medic says, "You should do somethin' to stop the bleeding!" :laugh:

So the ass-wound heals, he ends up chillin' with his unit somewhere--I don't remember all the details--but, to make the long story short, his commanding officer is playin' with a grenade, drops it (spoon and pin releasing simultaneously) and blows his leg off. The shrapnel flies and takes out a chunk of my friends leg. ROFL.

He's injured twice in Iraq and it's by our own men!! How hilarious is that??? :laugh:

I had an Uncle who recently passed away, who had been a helicoptor door gunner in Nam and had been in that agent orange stuff. He had earned the nickname Doc there, though he wouldn't talk about how.
I have alot of relatives who had been in World War 2. My Grandfather had been in the Marines over there.

*laughs hard* Oh my Sprout, some might have told that story in a very sad way, but you really made me laugh so hard, it's hard to breathe now. Poor guy though >.< Geee... Silly stuff sure happens even in war...

And it seems a bit odd to me when people don't want to talk about war. My grandpa always was ready to tell- the sad stuff or the funny stuff, didn't matter, he enjoyed to share his experiences. I guess my grandpa might have not seen that much, though to me of course his experiences will be the greatest, or maybe he just is able to see the world always in a more optimistic way?

Oh and this reminds me, my father took part in a very little war. You know when the iron wall broke and Soviet Union fell? Well some might not even know, but really bad stuff happened in Latvia and Lithueinia at that time. Some tanks drove over some pople in Lithueinia, who didn't want for the russians to take over their radio station.
Well then Latvia got ready for a fight too and made baricades around some of the main buildings in Riga, and many men from around there went to guard the buildings. No weapons... nothing. Just men against tanks and armed russians. My father took part too, but luckily he didn't really get any real action... He just tells aboutsitting around fireplaces in the middle of the city and singing some songs and stuff like that... Some people were killed in this little war, however... sad, but at least it's just a few people.. could have been so much worse...

The war we are in now is taking place in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the war is not with these two nations, its just taking place in those nations. We are at war with terrorists, which is a mixed group of insane foreign fighters. Most of the terrorist that we are fighting are not even Iraqi or Afghani. What we are fighting for is stability in the area, and ultimately our own safety in the end. Many people want us the just role over and capitulate to the terrorist and leave, when the truth of the matter is that is how we got into this mess in the first place. Even if we do leave, the terrorist are still going to come after us.

Now as for family wise and being affected by it, I in fact have. In WWII actually. I am Slavic and Serbian on my mother's side, Yugoslavian to be exact. The Nazis saw us as gypsies, which is not a very good thing, and thus tried to exterminate the "unclean." My great great grand parents were rounded up and were being taken to one of the many death camps, but as luck would have it they managed to escape the train car by getting through a loose floor bored. If they had not of found that loose floor bored, I wouldn’t be here right now.

Aww gosh... your father is a brave man there Lasura ^^ you should be proud... protecting what it's worth his life eh? ^^

:p geez sprout.. the poor guy... Friendly fires often happen in war.. :laugh: Gosh.. unexpected things.. :p That happens when you handle dangerous things like weapons...

Hmm my story on war happens during world war 2... according to my grandmother.. who is still alive today... she said she was a young girl that time.. a teenage... and there was this young japanese officer camping not far from her house... she suspects he likes her :p1: and she would sing this lullaby in japanese to me when i was a young kid ^^ i can still remember it... i think she learnt it from that officer... according to her, he was a nice guy... but... the japanese occupation only took Malaysia for a short time and he was gone out of sight once war ends... :p they never got together ^^

My great grandma never lets them together though.. my whole family hates the japanese occupation greatly... they been beheading opposers easily... and people who don't listen to them... gets a nice greeting from their katana's ^^ and heads shall roll... and the land shall have a blood bath~ :laugh: :devil:

I have no grudges over the Japanese occupation.. but i hear their training makes them a bit inhuman... and cruel... so im not sure... i hear it has to do with drugs and the "kamikaze" or the famous Bushido codes.. :p but i think someone here would have more knowledge in this.. anyone? :)

Wow scourge.. sounds like some adventure... it'll be cool if all this stories from war get combined into a big and nice long war story :p

ah well. what is the point of war. destruction for peace? seems like a big oxymoron to me. and its nice to live in a "peaceful state of mind" since peace is never truly attained.

and besides, as was sung in RENT, "The opposite of war isn;t peace. It's creation."
