So why should I be ashamed for being a Geek, I make more in annual salary then most people because of my Geekness!!!

I don't really think people are ashamed of it. They just don't talk about it around people who either don't understand it or don't want to. That dosen't make them ashamed in my point of view, it just makes them selective.

muchly not, i still take a shower and i have a lot of fun with my partner in geekdom, so why would i be embarressed?

^_^ i think it's more embarrasing acting like a douche at the mall with your loser friends spending your mom's money... but that's just me...


@ Shodokan: according to my partner and i, a nerd is a geek who's smart in a particularly unpopular subject, such as math or history. something with a lot of inane facts.

a geek is an otaku, or rabid fan of certain shows or genres.

example, table top RPGs, you know, those guys that make miniture figures and re-enact battles of fantasy or history...

the geek is the guy painting the figures to make them "uber awesome lol", but the nerd is the guy totally remaking the story into a masterpiece of sorts...

so basically, there's a difference if you're nerdy enough to research it...

Why would I be ashamed of being a geek, thats who I am, and if someone can't accept me for who I am, then they can take it and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Most of the Greatest minds and leaders of the last 100 years have all been "Geeks" in one form or another, so we should be be proud of ourselves.

I agree with aceman... you are who you are.. why should you be ashamed of what you want to be... ^^

Yeah, a lot of people judge others way too quickly, so it's understandable. But, if I got to meet somebody new, wouldn't it be normal to talk about our interests? What's the alternative, lying to them to make myself look better? Embrace your geekness and accept it, as long as you are happy with that lifestyle. Plus, it's not like it's a big deal. I can think of a lot of other things I would be more ashamed of in comparison.
