It's kinda like Napster in a sense. Napster fell and other music-sharing sites came like Kazaam. So I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened with YouTube..^___^

While law is obviously being broken here (Money is being made from copyright infringment, how ever 'unintentional'), with that aside for a moment, the way I see it is its free advertising. People aren't going to stop watching their 42"+ tv's for a 450x325 pixel image on a computer monitor. For example, when someone tells me of a band, I search Youtube for a music video by them, and that in turn, influences what music I buy.
The only harm being done here is that money is being made made from copyright infringements, that reason and that reason alone is why Viacom's pissed, they aren't losing money, someones just making money off them, cause god forbid someone steps on their turf, and I SERIOUSLY doubt that Viacom (Owners of MTV, Comedy Network, Paramount Motion Pictures, and slew of other media) actually 'suffered' 1 billion dollars in damages.
ok they sue them for that and they dont take them off for people puting up people geting bettin up ect ( happy slap ect)
They make it sound like youtube is doing somthing bad, but youtube isn,t the one thats puts the music video,s online it are the users of youtube.
So why do they blame youtube while youtube has don nothing wrong it are the users of youtube that are violating copy law not youtube.
But i have to admit that i am one of those users and that youtube is my main sourse of music and Anime, i use youtube alot and i am using it right now.
Its just a good source for music and Anime, and you dont have commerciols and you can watch stuf when you like.
Also i think Viacom needs to do somthing about MTV becose its stands for Music TV but there isn,t much music left on MTV, when i watch MTV i want to watch a music video and not som show about al the nonsens what there showing instead of music video,s.
There isn,t much music left on MTV so its Viacom,s own foult that poeple watch youtube insted of MTV.
i know what you mean, i use youtube alot, more likely to watch the things the ppl download. but why the duce does google have a problem? they didn't before and youtube was up for awhile. maby there becoming less popular and youtube is becoming more popular? lol, i dont know, it was just a guess.
thinking about this... I think there are more issues behind than "piratery".... like somebody said here: the "damages" don't go up to a billion.... anyways... and yes i also believe that if utube is closed other page is going to open...
NOOOOOO!
Youtube closed? No more AMV'S! No more fun! Sheesh, I wish youtube did not have to go against the law, and they are paying a heafty fine. 1 billion dollars and they're gonna get closed. But I still think youtube should be given one more chance, since it's [for me] the largest video hosting site there is.
Hmm i think so too but im curious...which web is gonna get up and would it be better than youtube....
