The latest chapter of this high tech soap opera is just started...

i wont like it if youtube is to be ceased...

That was alot of damage, wonder who has been doing all that? is just stupid and don't anyone ever read the laws of video tapes or dvds?

Its Google we're talking about here. Google will most likely fight this, or it just might bow to their wishes and close youtube, concidering the hit its stock took when this was announced: GOOG - Google Inc. - Google Finance

But lets face it, If Youtube falls, another will take its place, and this time it'll be set up in a country that can't be touched by copyright law. 'tis the nature of the interweb

It's kinda like Napster in a sense. Napster fell and other music-sharing sites came like Kazaam. So I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened with YouTube..^___^

While law is obviously being broken here (Money is being made from copyright infringment, how ever 'unintentional'), with that aside for a moment, the way I see it is its free advertising. People aren't going to stop watching their 42"+ tv's for a 450x325 pixel image on a computer monitor. For example, when someone tells me of a band, I search Youtube for a music video by them, and that in turn, influences what music I buy.

The only harm being done here is that money is being made made from copyright infringements, that reason and that reason alone is why Viacom's pissed, they aren't losing money, someones just making money off them, cause god forbid someone steps on their turf, and I SERIOUSLY doubt that Viacom (Owners of MTV, Comedy Network, Paramount Motion Pictures, and slew of other media) actually 'suffered' 1 billion dollars in damages.
