I know it feels like you are missing out on getting to see the whole event, because they only show parts of the event. The part where the Americans compete and who ever wins the event gets coverage.
NBC has been working overtime at screwing up. In a three or four hour block we only see 50 something minutes of actual competition. There are almost as many commercials and then you have to factor in the commentary and medals ceremonies. All this has made for lousy coverage. NBC should not get the American right to air the olympics. What do you think.

So... don't watch the Olympics on NBC? Or do they only show them on one channel?
The BBC has a pretty good coverage.
I think NBC is the only coverage we have, like USA & CNN Sports channels will play NBC coverage. And I only have the BBCAmerica channel and they aren't playing the Olympics on that channel.

Here in Canada, any station that is affiliated with CTV gets coverage (We got CTV, ESPN, and TSN), and we also have CBC giving coverage as well.
Its also nice having Satellite too, so I've got all the US stations, Canadian Stations, and some British stations as well.
And about the commercials, well thats just a fact of olympics. If you look at any of the Venues, you don't see advertisments anywhere. And then you add in the fact that the networks are devoting almost a full days worth of programming every day, and to quote the goblins in World of Warcraft: "Time is money, friend."
Things have to be paid for.
You make some good points, and for all our back and forth arguments you usually do. It takes far more money to put on a winter olympics, with all the ice arenas and courses. Plus the fact that fewer people watch the winter games (no surprise considering many people even in america have no interest in anything winter). Still I am somewhat dissatisfied.
