    Just a thought.

So I was reading through some documents, seems sprint donated 50,000 towards the Hati relief. Total donations as of Jan 20th were at 3.2 million. Thats crazy that our economy sucks but we are giving a lot of money to another country. I don't understand! Just saying that its crazy, not that I don't want to help another country.

Canada's thinking about Adopting Haiti and bringing it in as another Territory, we've put a lot of money into helping them get to where they were, then the quake happened and most of it is undone.

Canada already has over a 1000 troops on the ground, with a warship full of supplies already on its way down.

This here is a really interesting read (dont worry its fairly short, and a pretty insightful opinion on the subject you raise):

    Help Haiti Privately not Publicly

And some good points were raised there, even though for me being an emotionally driven person it was hard to swallow.

Yeah that was a good read Peach.

I don't know, I think 3.2 million is a lot of money. Plus they are still raising money with all the freaking tv commercials and tv fund raiser shows. I was trying to watch my tv shows Friday night, but no, they were canceled for the stupid fund raiser shows! It's just frustrating.

I couldn't agree more Zev. What is funny is does anyone know where the money is going.

I think we would all be happy if other places sent us money if we got hit with a major earthquake.
If that makes us miss an episode of a show we like, so be it.

    Re: Just a thought.

If other countries sent us money, I'd say "It's about time!"

...other countries have yet to pay up what they promised in the wars.

It doesn't matter if we keep spending money though, our debt generation continues to increase constantly, digging from our children's funds. And though we might complain about this, our parents didn't complain about their grandparents doing such (and they started it). And even if we complain our debt is much higher, during Clinton's term he was able to reduce the debt by a HUGE amount. It just went higher again because of Bush. ...so in all honesty: We CAN get rid of this debt as long as we're willing to, but most of us just complain about not wanting to pay it.

...that was a bit off-topic, but I was trying to explain that complaining about the US spending money on other countries is like complaining that a church uses tithing for their missionaries.

    1. They're known for doing that, and they're not going to stop.

    2. Taking more from the people may be harsh, but if at least some of it goes to help people, there's not much to complain about.

    3. Debts always seem the least of their worries.

...the US talks big about debts, but we rarely do anything about it. It'd practically be smarter now to form a new country to drop those debts.
