Grumble Grumble Grumble
There has been many reported cases of high speed CD readers (48X or faster) spinning the disk fast enough that a minor flaw in the CD disk will explosively fail with a bang, reducing the CD, and the fragile laser read head into scrap... It sounds like your a victim of this... Time to go shopping for a replacement reader...
Adding on to what Len said, Starcraft is an old game, and because of that, the age of the disc might have been a factor.
Why don't you go out and get a fancy-shamanzy DvD burner drive. I got mine for 30 bucks (Sony 16x Dual Layer) from a local computer shop, so shop around for deals... oh, and pick up a new copy of Starcraft while you're at it lol
Course, the drive won't explode like this... YouTube - Exploding CD-ROM
'Cause you give me something / That makes me scared, alright / This could be nothing / But I'm willing to give it a try / Please give me something
'Cause someday I might call you from my heart
so i was right in a way about the the cd at high speeds exploding, man kno there trying to kill ower computers buy selling us death cds that explode.
