Well hello dear AO members.. ^^

i am striked with a new problem on my PC... and it has something to do with my Internet connection... this is the problem...

1.Internet Connection status shows high numbers of packets sent and received. example sent; 10 080 received; 989

2.Internet acts like it stopped for a while and then connects again... it makes me having trouble in surfing.. and it even slowed me..

3.If i disconnect the connection i can recconect until the next day..sheesh

4.My pc is not slowing down... it is at the normal capacity...

what is the cause of this problem? can any1 help me to fix it?

Have you tried restarting your modem or router (if youre using one)?? I know this is weird, but it happens to me once in a while.

@ RayMe, call your internet provider, they will tell you what's wrong wheter it is your modem that is about to die or they are having some technical problems.

I just got this modem last month... @.@ how can it going to die.. i have already restarted the modem.. the problem seems little now.. but it is still slow sometimes.. and it would stuck.. @.@ ~.~

Have you tryed to ping?
If you do that you can tel where the problem is, it wil help a lot to now where the problem is.
First you need to open C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe
Then typ ipconfig, then you wil see your ip adress subnet adress and standartgateway adress.
Then typ ping 127.0.0.1
Then your pc wil sent 4 files of 32 bytes to your loopadress adress.
Then typ ping your ip adress.
Then your pc wil do the same as above anly then to your ip adress.
Then typ ping your standartgatway adress.
And then typ a external ip adress of witch you now is in use (if you don,t now an external ip adress sent me a pm and ask for mine).

If by any if this adresses the 4 packeges don,t arive or have a time out there is somthing wrong whit that part of your internet, that wil help whit solving the probleme.

First of all do you have a network card installed in you computer? Because it tends to do that.

wow... thats a pretty dumb question, no offense, if he didn't have one installed, How would he access the internet in the first place?

As for restarting your modem, the quickest and easiest way would be to just Unplug it and plug it back in.

The problem is most likely with your Modem, or ISP, you're best off just contacting your ISP and telling them the problem, if restarting your modem didn't help. If the problems with your modem, they'll tell you to restart it, and if this continues, they will most likely replace it for you. If the problems with the ISP, contacting them is a good way to get the problem fixed.

My last piece of advice is that if you continue to have trouble with your ISP, switch to a different ISP.

Also that, and for me the network card regularly used to cause this problem to me so I had to remove it. The internet started to work way better after that.

I had a 10/100mbs SMC Ethernet card in my computer (Computers actually, it migrated over 3 machines as I upgraded) for about 6 years, it didn't fail me once. I eventually took it out to replace it with a D-link 108mbs Wireless card. your problem must be an isolated problem, I highly doubt the Nic card is responsible for the intermittent connection
