I can see your point, but jeez...that's some tough love. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today.

I don't know about the others, but I was interested in the response to your request for more information. BSOD's are caused by literally hundreds of reasons, so its kind of pointless to guess unless you have more information first.

Your suggestion was the best advice so far, but I also believe that correcting misleading information should be seen as equally valuable to someone trying to understand their OS related issue.

I would add to your suggestion to OP to either write down or take a photo of the actual BSOD so everyone here can see the error code details. It would beat looking for errors in such a round-about way as going through the prompt to the error log, if it turned out to be an issue with a driver listed as the stop error on the BSOD in the first place.

Grumble Grumble Grumble

Now if you really wanted a stable and reliable Operating System, at a good affordable price (FREE!!!) there's the Ubunta variant of Linux which you can download off the net. But switching to it means your going to have to give up all your games...

I agree that Linux and its variants are the most stable OS's on the market, but games and apps haven't been ported yet (as you mentioned), as well as support for many drivers. That would be my only reason for not making a complete switch. However, Asus has come out with a motherboard (P5E3 Deluxe) that has a Linux variant embedded into it's memory. That means it can dual boot with 2000/XP/Vista, but also has the instant-on capabilities of Linux. They advertise it with a Linux port of Firefox. That would be ideal for me, as I would not have to wait through a complete XP boot to do a quick web search--particularly handy for last minute tasks such as directions, movie times, etc, before leaving to go somewhere. It would also help laptop battery life.

I believe this could very likely be a registration error.

You should check that out.

That wasn't helpful at all and it told them nothing about how to do that not to mention you need to be sure to clarify what the heck you are saying. From what you wrote I can take it several different ways:

1) When I registered my copy of windows with Microsoft something went wrong (You don't have to register your copy of windows at all and this wouldn't cause problems).

2) When I registered my "XZY Product" (some other software or hardware) something went wrong (not going to cause a problem, if registration is required you simply won't be able to use the product).

3) There is a "Registry" error (much more likely to be this issue but again you offered nothing on how to check for this)
