Thread: PS2 problem

it happens alot to older versions of ps2 the earlier ones had bad lasers and would stop being able to read black ps1 discs and blue ps2 discs ( the blue ones are still cd's ) it might not happen to all cd's butit wont read the majority of it or only after 10 tries or something

there isnt really a problem to fix it unless you want to screw it apart buy a new laser component and replace it , but that would be alot of trouble if you dont know what you're doing

i myself had the same problem my 1st generation ps2 already had that after it was only 9 months old , lucky i still had warranty and got it replaced
but however that one kicked the bucket also after a year and a half

bought a new one after that and it still works fine to this day

so you can either say screw it or buy a new ps2/ps3 =/
unless you think you can put the laser module in there yourself

No Hassun I don't own any of the games you mentioned..

@Barronmore-I have the bulky PS2..

I told my dad it was the PS2..but he figures its the disc..he works with programs and machines..he says if it can play my PS2 games then it works...*sigh* he's uber stubborn..

But do you think Burning the Gameshark onto another disc will work?

It's the PS2. If you want a professional opinion for him to chew on take him to Gamestop and they will tell him the same thing.

Unless your PS2 has been modified to read cd-r/Dvd-r's, then copying your GS to a new disk will not do anything for you.

I would just buy a new ps2 if i were u there not expensive eny more and its better if u do that way the disks hat u have and wont work on the old ps2 will on the new one.

if you got a modschip burn to to dvd-r and it will work if you burn it on cd you might have the same problem again

Try to play Metal Gear Solid 3 on that playstation. If it also refuses to play it then the problem could be the same one I had. Newer PS2 discs are a new kind of double layered DVDs, some old PS2s (like my old one) can't play those.

It works now..the lens just needed to be adjusted that's all...and I don't I'll need a new PS2 for a couple years..
