And about the checking your hard drive Creesco said...is that even legal? I mean isn't that an invasion of privacy. If microsoft could just search our files so easily like that then what about the important document we have on our computer that is for our eyes only? I dont think they would do something like that and if they did it would end up in a lot of angry people.
Theortically, its not but when you install an OS it says stuff about legal stuff and that nonsense. Well, I guess Vista wants to stop the piracy thats going on so they decided to check your HDD. This is much like the Sony issue with their spyware they put in their merchendise. Hopefully Mircosoft will take this out of the OS and lets do as we please but, knowing M$ they won't.

Re: Vista

Still, to me even if Creesco says it, is still a myth. I am not going to upgrade to vista even though its a myth lol. I'll take creesco warning and leave my computer be. You kno there's bound to be complaint's if M$ is really doing this even if its for piracy. There is going to be a lot of confusion for example, if the person downloaded a file or just uploaded it to there computer.

Re: Vista

I was talking about this in the chat section of an online game I play and an interesting this was said. That is that unless Microsoft puts a claws in the lessening agreement any reporting of things on your hard drive is an invasion of province. An example of this is whenever you upgrade media player it always has that check mark asking if you are willing to send them info to improve it. Anything they do without this is illegal.

On a side note someone mentioned that a company as a joke on how few people actually read them put a claws in there programs licensing agreement in big red letters that by agreeing to this you willingly agree to hand over your first born to satin. Surface it to say no one noticed till someone actually read it and complained. They said they believe the went out of business soon afterwards.

Myth or not, I highly recommend not upgrading to Vista the moment it comes out. I suggest atleast 6 months. That way, atleast most of the features of Vista are discovered and can be resolved.

This is a rumor and is incorrect, the same was the case with XP, prior to it's release people claimed it would notify the RIAA if you downloaded illegally.

And it doesn't.

I'm currently beta testing Vista, it's actually a nice OS, and I can see some features which were definitly inspired by Linux (for those of you who don't know, this is a good thing) While, of course the OS is not finalized yet, it is at least at this point....a nice and great looking OS. Click the following link to see a screenshot of my desktop in Vista:

http://www.animeonline.net/gallery/s...o=9801&cat=505

You can disable the sidebar to the right, as well as have it display dozens of other things besides the date/time/cpu/mypictures slideshow which I have mine display.

But as interesting as Vista is, it's merely a stepping stone for Microsoft on their way to making Windows Vienna/Fiji which is supposed to do away with the start menu and taskbar and bring an entirely new and supposedly "revolutionary" GUI.

In all honesty, by now I can safely say all the faith I lost in microsoft when they made ME has been just about restored with XP (Professional) and the implimentation of Vista.

And yes, you should wait a few months before picking it up, just as you would with any other OS or peice of hardware. When Sony released the PS2, early versions had problems, same with the 360 on Microsoft's behalf. But upgrading down the road isn't and shouldn't be an option. I don't want to have to deal with new programs being bogged down so they will still work on XP because there are still a handful of people unwilling to upgrade.

Vista will not be another ME, hence if you have not upgraded within 18 months of it's release you and your computer are obselete relics which merely waste bandwidth and provide a breeding ground for viruses.

Oh and here is a much better link to find out if you can handle Vista home, and which other versions you can handle: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...r/default.mspx
