Re: What antivirus you recommend?

What? Norton is terrible.. it breaks things. It interferes with other programs (like e-mail) if it expires it locks down all net access, browsing, e-mail.. everything. It's a resource hog and makes your system run slow. It only updates once a week and has a terrible adware and spyware scanner. And on top of that, your either paying 60 dollars an hour or 2.95 a minute for tech support.

Do not get Panda. You'll lose all your stuff.. the program deletes your stuff and takes over your computer. And it is a serious pain in the arse to uninstall Panda. If you get the version off the bet beware, its full of spyware.

McAffe isn't that bad but it still a system hog and breaks quite a bit.

Do not get AVG...

Also if you do any type of gaming whatsoever I would recommend against linux, although we do have a linux box in the home and it's totally awesome, it has almost no support for gaming, and you will most likely run into issues with driver support too. Unless your up to ALOT of learning and research on your own linux is not the option for you.

F-Secure is great. It's more popular in Europe, doesn't use much for system power, updates every hour, actively watches your computer for viruses and stuff instead of just scanning once a week, which it also does. It detects and removes rootkits a really nasty form of spyware at this point.. only F-Secure has a scanner that finds and removes them. It's pricey but worth it, you can get it from F-Secure.com > F-Secure Corporation protects consumers and businesses against computer viruses and other threats

Re: What antivirus you recommend?

Trust me McAffe is way worse than Norton I don't know which version of Norton your talking about but the 07 ver is better than Mcaffe's 07 ver...

Linux isn't so hard to learn its just a OS for programmers ^_^ and you can run games on Linux with Wine... :/ still it doesn't run to many games.

And F-Secure...? Jesus 60$? NoD32 is 40 and it's almost as good as Kaspersky and uses way less resources... updates every 12 hours thou thats its only problem. But a recent test done with 1 month old NoD32 signatures caught 80% of all the viruses they tested it with and thats real good...
