I love my girlfriend.
Winodws Movie Maker has some issues with Divx and Xvid codecs. I wont go into detail about the exact nature of the issues (they are terribly long and horribly boring), but suffice to say you may/can/will experience MM drop outs, freezing, crashes, and all sorts of "kick your monitor" goodness when dealing with certain Divx & Xvid file combinations. Most of the issues revolve around how MM uses ffdshow. Movie Maker was made with .wmv and mpeg1 & mpeg 2 in mind.
If you are feeling up to it, you can google for known codecs that cause MM problems.
thanks it's working now but i swear windows movie maker is buggy. It keeps closing itself down whenever i try to spilt a clip....

You swear WMM is buggy? Little news for ya, IT ALWAYS WAS! Ever since it was released in Windows ME (Lovingly dubbed "Mega Errors"), its been crashing its way into dis-use...
Although, I can say all my music videos were made in WMM.
Also, If your going to be using DivX content, set FFDirectShow to not handle DivX movies and use the official divx codec, Never had a problem with DivX unless I had some heavy compex Edits.
Lately, I've been toying with Adobe Premeire Elements, bit more complex, but its just as easy to use once you figure it out. That and you have more tools to work with.
If you want to do something
like that get something better
Windows Moive Maker its for like
