Don't bother trying. The Automatic Updates files are saved in the Windows directory in those folders with random number/letter sequence names. However, their only useful in the context of the Windows Update application, and cannot be applied after the fact by other means. If you want the patch files to apply (such as after a re-installation, or a new installation) then you need to go to the Microsoft Knowledge base and find the self-contained executable patches, the same ones that IT administrators use, to apply the patches without a Internet connection...
