    Re: anime in america

Its the unusual factor as the reason why anime is used in commercials such as Absolute Vodka. Though Adult Swim among other channels have contributed to bringing Anime to America, anime remains a fringe interest and its not considered by most of America, bear in mind, alot of America is still the Baby Boomer generation to be mainstream. Its the attraction factor, you see something new, you are bound to look if at least once and hence, by using this gimmick, the absolut people have just gotten you to think about the vodka because you saw it with something that is new to you.

American style cartoons are in fact just cartoons.
Anime is much cleaner and detailed.
    Compare "Naruto" To "Catdog"
    Thats a big transition.
    (Spoiler warning)
Anime is fairly new to TV in america.
I can get ALL the naruto episodes in Japanease/Engilsh right now and Toonami is still on #30 when there #180+ Episodes total.
    (Spoiler warning)

Those people say such things due to their ignorance of the Japanese culture. I see where they're coming from though, because fact is, MOST animes looks like cartoons. They are ignorances of the story behind the drawings and the topics in which anime deals with.

When I hear that come across, I just go yeah, I'm into cartoons, eat me!
