Thread: Besides anime, what else do you love about Japan?

Like Tokusatsu and anime, i am a fan of Kaiju. Again, for those unfamiliar, Kaiju is kinda like Toku but instead of transforming superheroes you get big monsters like Godzilla, Gamera, etc. Kaiju doesn't only pertain to the genre itself but also to the monsters. Kaiju has been very influential to me, those who know me personally knows that i am fond of drawing monsters without even running out of design ideas. I guess i have to thank the Kaiju industry for my skills.

Music (J-pop or J-rock)- Not really a fan but i like a few stuff here and there.

Girls- I dunno but i really have a thing for Japanese women ever since childhood, was it because i grew up with a lot of things Japan? I have 2 ex-girlfriends that had Japanese blood in them, they looked Japanese and they talked a little Japanese (but they are still from the Philippines)...So there, i have to say that my appreciation for Japanese women isn't just a fan thing it's something more deeper than that.

Well, you already said everything that I wanted to say on what I like about Japan itself, but let me just explain my side. :P

On Japanese tokusatsu live-action, it's practically obvious to me since I've watched more toku than anime. In fact, I've had my very first exposure to toku a few years BEFORE I've had my exposure to anime (if I can remember correctly, my very first anime is Chōdenji Machine Voltes V, while my very first toku is Chōdenshi Bioman).

On Japanese kaiju, well I really never remembered on why was I exposed to Godzilla or something, but I think it's around the same time as my exposure to Ultraman.

On J-music, well it depends. Most of the time, I only listen to OSTs of anime and others, but some are practically good, mostly from the J-rock genre.

On Japanese girls, well I might not be on the same intimacy level as you, Hantei, but still, their cute eyes make me fall for them.

in my opinion, the best of J-music is not just limited to OST of anime. That's what got me started (the first anime theme i fell in love with was Smile Bomb from Yu Yu Hakusho), but after i branched out and started listening to other artists not as popular, i began to enjoy those songs better. J-rock is the best! I personally love X Japan, Shiina Ringo, and L'arc~en~Ciel

I can relate to that. Though I'm generally talking about their hair. My hair's all curly if I don't pay attention. D:
And seriously, I hated that. It might be different for some girls, but me as a boy having curly hair ... I don't like it. Or at least I have no idea what to do with it exactly. That's why I always wanted straight hair like most japanese/asian people have.
Anyway I think I've gotten more or less used to my hair as it is now ...

I love their culture, there words, and some of there foods are good.

I love there food there video game all types of music out of japan my fav j-pop. I just love the way Tokyo looks. I Japan.
