I as well love the peoples costum and rich history. The old castles that dot the countries hills are quite the site. It is also cool to walk around the street at nights and feel completely safe even though I am in a foreign country.
I love the Takuyaki( even though I never tried it) and I love the language because it is kind of challenging to learn! But the best part is the B-E-A-UTIFUL GIRLS. They are sooooo cute!!!!
Yes they do have the yakuza. But for the most part the Yakuza stay in specific sections. And the buildings are marked yakuza, there establishments will say japanese only. Though not all establishments saying that are yakuza owned. Trust me you can spot them. In my three years there I did bump into a few of these folks. Don't start nothing there willn't be nothing. One even stopped to give me directions. Remember they are into organized crime.
I'm a big fan of tokusatsu and kaiju films (especially Godzilla) - that's how I really got into anime/manga and Japanese culture in the first place. Then, there's also the food. Man, that stuff is good. Also, I'm fairly interested in Japanese mythology, especially tales involving dragons and oni (because a lot of tokusatsu is based off of that
). The language is also interesting, it's got a sort of rhythmic, musical quality to it.
The question is, what isn't there to love about Japan. (besides Pearl Harbor) Anyways, The people are gracious and friendly, and there is way to much to do there. If I could pick anywhere to visit for a month it would be Japan. I have studied Japanese history and culture for sometime now including feudal era Japan. It would be a dream come true. My favorite thing about Japan is the culture. Their culture is so diverse and unique it's like none other.
