The bucket of water punishment in Japanese Schools

Is it just something they show on tv or do teachers really have a punishment like that.

It was used in the 20s-70s for students (usually male) who had disrupted class. The idea was that they had to wait in the hall (where everyone would see them) holding buckets of water (quite heavy). If you put them down, everyone would see that you were weak and the teacher would give you crap.

It doesn't happen any more. Just sending a child out of the classroom is illegal under Japanese education law. Corporal punishment of any sort is strictly outlawed.

Now it's something used in fetish erotic stories and erogames because guys apparently like seeing cute little girls "suffering" and the concept of "punishment". I assure you, there aren't any classroom orgies or spankings either.

LOL, that's great! I love the chalk throwing punishment! ^_^

I've seen it in so many anime and I crack up each time I see it. I used to try to get my teachers to throw chalk at students back in high school. One kid would say somethin' smart-assed to the teacher and I'd be like, "Just pelt him with your chalk!" LOL. Too bad it never happened. I'd love to see that in real life. I bet you were amused.

-.- sheesh around my area people are crazy. One teacher taped her student to a flagpole and left him there all day. (or until someone saw him O.O)
The point is, punishment is weird these days...
    but probably not in Japan...
    at lest not as much.
Everyone knows american teachers are completely out there O.O

They're certainly not 'out there' when it comes to strictness.
American teachers are A LOT more easygoing than their European colleagues.

it's true, but not at my school. I'm lucky, i have the best teachers in the town ^^
Anyway, japanese teachers are strict too, just not with the punishment and things, as far as i know anyway.
