Cosplay fetish isnt limited to just the Japanese (although honestly I think that a majority of people that do have them ARE Japanese. LOL) its more of an personal preference/taste in the matter.

...now as for the types of costumes, thats a whole another story right there. I for one think that a maid outfit is F'ing sweet. (.>//w//<)

I agree with Hassun for once *gets struck by lightning twice* It isn't as weird as you might think. Infact, though we don't talk about it openly in public... Guys tend to adore maids. Nurses seem especially popular as of late but, I can't actually see a guy 'dressing up' for such 'plans' as well. Hmm.. Irony.. In anycase, Another favorite is the cat girl them or Neko. *thumbs up to you for having the maid costume* I myself would have about the same reaction if I found a maid uniform in my girl friends closet. Infact, I'd probably tackle-hug her xD. And I'm american.

I also seem to have a thing for school-girl uniforms.. come to think of it, we're getting a japanese foreign exchange student this year

Costume versions of school uniforms are pretty cheap and easy to come by, but I'm a junior high school teacher... and he's been a student at the school I now teach at >_<; He's still got his gakuran (school uniform) but it would be VERY skeevy for us to play "Teacher/student" or "student/student". Not sure if I have it in me.

I have cat and bunny ears... those didn't make him batt an eyelash. Like I said: he's not really a geek. He isn't into the usual "moe" stuff ^^;

We'll see how maid-play goes...

He's mentioned a china dress before... I have one of those too, but it's back home in the states.

BTW. It's not just my boyfriend. I wore this costume to a Halloween party last October and got 7 or 8 guys' numbers out of the deal and had some random guys in cars ask to take my photo when I was drinking a soda outside O_o;

If its just normal dress up tuff and nothing to do with anime/cosplay. You could always try a Police womans uniform or meter maid outfit.

That way you can hand out tickets for LOOOVVVEE.

^_^ well, i personally see nothing wrong with that he finds the outfit so sexy! i find it very sweet that he's so attaracted by the idea of you in something! hopefully the feelings are in more places than that, but i'm sure you'll be a great judge of that!

as for the cosplaying thing... i think non-Japanese... wait, Americans (i can't really speak for the rest of the world) seem to only be into costumes in porn and at strip bars... i don't really here about it much between couples, only in women's magazines giving tips on keeping your sex life active. as for who many people follow it... um... i don't really want to research it... it's their play time, right?

First off....NICE!! But if you have been to Tokyo, you would first notice that they LOVE anime and the costumes of anime girls. It's REALLY big there! There are Maid Cafe's in Japan, in Akiharbara. That's where a Cosplay women would serve you a meal. It's a nice little cafe but it's just to show you how popular cosplay is over in Japan....it's AWESOME!!!

I have been trying to get my wife to get a cosplay outfit...any suggestions on how to convince her??
