![]() ![]() | Difference Between Te-forum and Nai-form Okay, I'm having trouble with the Te-form of verbs and the Nai-form of words and their original form. I just don't see their purpose, or even what they do in a sentence. Example. aimasu (meet) atte (meet te-form) awanai (meet nai-form) How did those come about and what are they used for?

![]() ![]() | Re: Difference Between Te-forum and Nai-form I don;t really know, but my first guess is one is respectful, as if you are meeting a superior or a parent. The other i assume would be if you are going to meet a friend or a group of friends or something like that. I'm no japanese wiz, but i do know status and age have to do with what you say, so it's the first thing to pop into my head. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Difference Between Te-forum and Nai-form My personal guess is future and past tense, as I can't seem to find any hint on the matter. Even then, I feel a small tinge at me being wrong.
