    There is a thread exactly same as this. ^_^ Anyway. Yes, a lot of people wear kimonos in Japan even in this modernized era. It's a tradition, and it will never be lost. Just visit a Temple, and you will see a bunch, wearing kimonos.

    I think mostly richer families keep the most expensive kind of kimono's. But the dresses still fit into there society, I think that they only wear them on special occassions >marriages, reunuions, family get together activities, festivals, new years, etc.<
    VAult is really knowledgable on the subject ^_^ he could give better examples than me.

    ahhh thank you all i was wondering because i was thinking about becomeing a foreign exchange student to japan. and i was also thinking about buying kimonos for my sisters and all that good stuff you know? and wear a japanese student uniform cus i really like them. Plus im bored of the rule of wearing watever you want to schhol.

    Yes, there still are kimonos. I know they sometimes have festivals and people would wear them so they must. ^__^
    THe prices are usaully expensive I hear though. At least thats what I was told (abotu the price of a kimono)

    yeah man. i was going to buy one the other day, but i was 400 dollars.
