My reading/wriing Japanese is poor, I downright suck at anything that isn't katakana or Hiragana. Talking and understanding though is another issue, one that I'm far more comfortable with. I can proudly say that I can follow a normal Japanese conversation for about 80% of it. Is there any other information that I need to give or is that all?

God's Little Girl | Re: Free Weekly Japanese Lessons Quote:
That first bit pretty much describes a the majority of non-Japanese people who know Japanese. I myself never really took formal Japanese classes, and I suffered a helluva lot when I went to school in Japan (for less than a year, though) because I'd be trying to do Math in Japanese and I'd be like, "WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS SAY????" And being 1/4 Japanese isn't really a big deal, it's not like I was brought up in Japanese-speaking family, so I was always as un-Japanese as the next non-Japanese person. My kanji recognition skills still suck, by the way. Being able to follow a normal conversation is definitely something you rightly SHOULD be proud of, though! Most people find the speed at which a regular Japanese conversation moves frighteningly fast, but that's only because they're too used to way the anime characters speak. I bet Japanese people find English-speakers too fast for them too. So thumbs up to you. ![]()
