But a quick answer would be no. The language is different, the people are different and of most importance, there is actually a history of hatred among them since WW2.

China and Japan have had a feud since the Feudal Era, mostly becuz China wanted everything and Japan wanted to conquer everyone. Some their biggest fights were over who would control Korea, and naturally, the Koreans were not fond of either side.

The Japanese are descendant's from the Chinese. Most of their language is based on Chinese, and hiragana was evolved from a type of Chinese only taught to women.

if you mean culturally, they would seem similar to us, but in areas we would overlook, they are vastly different.
