That's strange, I could've sworn there was another Japanese food thread lying around. Oh well. I like Japanese food, but I don't eat it all the time... if I did I'd probably get bored of it because it would seem common to me. I'm not a great fan of teriyaki dishes, but I do love ikura donburi. Here, at home, I don't eat much rice but with ikura, ANYTHING tastes good. Ohhhhh. I'm a sucker for gyuutan as well.
There is hardly a spicy Japanese dish around anyway. +__+ The only problem with Japanese food is that it is NOTHING like Chinese food. It lacks chili, and often it is too sweet or too sour or... some other extreme. Take the osechi-ryouri for example. I couldn't eat half of it. My host mom had to make me yakisoba instead... but right after that she gave me anko. I was like, gosh, how do these people NOT get diabetes??? (okay, maybe they do, I don't know)
Wasabi is all right, just in tiny amounts - not enough for it to go up my nose. It does open the eyes a bit.![]()

I like lots and lots of ham in mine. My host family used to make it for me almost everyday after they found out I liked it.
