    Re: Japanese Food anyone?

I have tried sushi with hot chili oil, it is so good...*drool*
Yes, only a little wasabi at a time...You know that saying "a little bit goes a long way", that is very true for wasabi.
Since I cook pork adobo (for those of you who don't know, it's a Filipino dish) and mix it with ramen noodles and some hot chili oil. Woo Hoo!

    Grumble Grumble Grumble

For a little Japanese Food trivia, the reason why wasabi became the 'traditional' seasoning for sashimi was that several centuries ago, it was noticed among fish vendors that Sushi bars that served the condiment had far fewer cases of food poisoning then those who did not. As it turns out, wasabi contains a powerful bactericide, and there's a company that trying to isolate and mass produce the active ingredient for use in oral hygiene products... (but gee, wasabi flavored mouthwash???)

For the daring, there is always 'Natto' which among biographies for anime child characters, is the one dish most likely to be in the 'not like' catagory...

Don't put too much wasabi. Just a teeny hint of it will do... you know, just for that added kick. Sushi is YUM. Sashimi is even more yum
ha ha! I learnt that! lol. I thought I had only put little bit on ..I was wrong ><

As far as the wasabi goes, it is really spicy by itself, but a good way to enjoy it is to mix a small piece (I stress small ) with some kind of cocktail sauce. Serve the sauce warm and mix the wasabi until it disolves. Makes for the perfect dipping sauce...mmmm mmmmm enjoy!
Yeah! one of the supermarkets I go to had this sushi making kit, so a brought it along with some other ingredients and tried. It actually turned out well for the first time (with a little help from mum ^_^)
And that sauce sounds nice! I will have to try!!!

Natto is yum Hahah. 3 years back I think I was the only exchange student from my batch to actually finish the entire helping. Everyone took one look/sniff at it and shied away. ^^;; I must've looked like some kind of monster.

Sushi is extremely difficult to make. I can't even make a decent looking roll of norimaki!! +__+ Hahahah. But I can make mochi and okonomiyaki, so I guess I'm not too bad a cook... >__> It takes people years of practice to make sushi that looks AND tastes good...

It's also very very great for stuffy noses.

And, it's great for a "green tea" ice cream substitute for that victim
