    Re: Japanese language learning.

Ok my post is going to result in 1 of 3 things.... people will suggest I read this whooole thread, the simply attempt to help me, or they ignore me lol.

Mmk, here goes. I have been studying the Japanese language for only two days. From listening repeatedly to some Japanese music, watching a couple japanese movies (Really enjoyed Private Eyes), I have picked up on the accent pretty well...

I can barely form a small sentence as of now (short greetings/meetings and asking what time it is). I think I am clear on the whole Desu and Ka things....
When in doubt, shut you mouth.
Stupidity shows when you talk too much.
So it is better to stay quiet and people think you are dumb, than to speak and people know you are dumb.

    Re: Japanese language learning.

Yup. Understanding what "desu" and "ka" mean and where they should go in a sentence is very basic, but VERY important. Japanese is generally a relatively easy language to learn. It's just the grammar that's a bit problematic. If you're a fast learner, good for you. If you're a bit slow, then well, you'll just take a while to learn. There are certain characteristics about the Japanese language that have to be noted, but you can only do that once your command of the language is... well, not too bad. It's not easy to explain how Japanese grammar works, see; you have to listen and read and talk a lot to get the hang of it. Things like that you just have to learn by yourself. It's not something we can explain in an entry.

Is there a reason you posted katakana instead of hiragana? Not that there's anything wrong with katakana. It should be duly noted, though, that katakana is used for the spelling of foreign words, sounds, etc.

Hiragana is used for "spelling" Japanese words, though you will most often find them accompanying kanji as opposed to just strings of hiragana.

    Re: Japanese language learning.

    これから始めましょう! >> kore kara hajimemashou!

The KORE in "kore kara" doesn't really refer to an object. It's more like, "from now", or "from this point". We don't use "ima kara" in this context. Er, I dunno how to explain why. ^^;; In the same way, we say "kore kara ha yoroshiku onegai shimasu" and not "ima kara ha yoroshiku onegai shimasu".

"hajimemashou" is an invitation to begin something (hajimeru).

    Re: Japanese language learning.

Hmm... this is kinda random but does anyone know the Japanese word for cow?
Lol. ^_^ I already know that inu means dog and neko is cat right? Or is that just catgirl.
I would like to know some animal words if anyone knows anything.
