I agree with shinopious tho, The best way to lear somthing is to completely submerge urself in it, In fact i do it all the time, from japanese music to book and everything but then again it is kinda expencive to do that because japanese books are not exactly cheap :P

How do you do, everyone. I am LG. (I am) 18 years old and a high school senior. Also, I'm a Japanese Three Student. I live in Virginia. I love the Japanese language, but I'm not skillful in it. I bought my two high school textbooks because my college (Virginia Commonwealth University) doesn't have (a) Japanese Class. My textbooks are called "Adventures in Japanese". I think they are good textbooks. I like to practice in forums because my family and friends don't speak Japanese at all. Nice to meet you ^_^

I hope I can join helping out people who need help too. ~_~
Arg, I wish I could have taken Japanese language classes in high school.

Actually, I wish my Japanese professor in college wasn't such a slavedriver.

Nihongo ga suki desu ga sensei wa yasashikunai ja arimasen

I think that's right, and I am surprised I remembered that.

    "Minna no Nihongo" de tsukaimashita.

    Re: Japanese language learning.

@ arima : It takes practice!

@ Priestess Angel : It's spelled sugoi, with a "g" instead of a "k". Also, you were referring to nandemonai, which does mean "nothing" (nandemo is "anything", and nai is, well, "no"). Nande means "why". "Who" is dare. As for toru, it doesn't mean "you"; rather, it means to "get" or "take", but shouldn't be confused with morau - I'll explain this later on. Some of the different words for "you" are anata, anta, sonata (VERY ancient), kimi, kisama and omae.

err...well 'senpai' means upper classman or is a formal way of addressing a friend who is older than yourself. It is normally said after one's name, for e.g you may address me as: Sop-senpai and I will address you as Souichiro-kouhai (opposite meaning of senpai).

Sheesh! And here I was going to ask you what -arima, meant!

    Re: Japanese language learning.

That's true - the language is really funky. There are loads of cute Japanese expressions that can't be translated into other languages, and that's what makes it such an "attractive" language. I keep scrapbooks and everyone always asks me why I write in Japanese inside them, and I really don't know what to tell them besides the fact that it's fun writing in kanji & furigana.
