Kabuki Électronik, the making of a Japanese cultural event
A fair evening to all AO members,
It is fairly late, so I shall be brief for now, but know that I have been working hard with my student association and other collaborators on an event since November 2009, and it shall soon come to fruition. We just finished editing our schedule, last minute questions and technical issues are being addressed, and possibly more things shall be added at the last minute. A whole adventure filled with ups and downs have gone by as this event plowes onwards.
Here is the website of the event which is still somewhat in construction:

(In French only, but you'll find me somewhere in the frey, being the president for the time being)
Kabuki Électronik's conferences are exclusively in French, being an event here in Quebec City where only 2% of our community is anglophone, but most of the organizers and volunteers can speak English, so you won't feel too lost if ever one dares to come and have a look.
This event will take place from May 6th to May 9th. Every evening will have various genres of music to dance to, Saturday May 8th being the one inspired by Japanese music of all kinds. Cosplaying, wearing avant-gardiste Japanese fashion and other similar clothing is encouraged. This aspect also costs money. Check the facebook for info.
As for May 8th to 9th throughout the day, these are the key moments where the cultural events will take place. It is absolutely free to attend to everything planned! Here are a few things that shall take place from 10 am to 5 pm, with a few activities continuing throughout the evening.

- Japanse fashion show
- Martial arts (Ninjitsu)
- Traditional arts
- Possibly works of art and thematic objects lent by the Japanese Consulate of Montreal

P.S.: I know that I have been inactive for far too long, but I guess that I felt like sharing my little attempt at bringing Japan to me instead of visiting it for the moment, not having anything to spare to go on a truly great adventure just yet.
P.P.S.: I hope that Hassun takes a look. *goes to send him a PM just to make sure*
Re: Kabuki Électronik, the making of a Japanese cultural event
Sounds so awesome. I just wish I had heard about it sooner, I don't think I can make it.
Re: Kabuki Électronik, the making of a Japanese cultural event
Congratulations on getting the event together, Soldat. You should be proud.
Well not as proud as you'll have to be after finishing the event successfully, but you get my point.
If you wanted me to read it because you were hoping I'd attend I have to disappoint you of course.
Re: Kabuki Électronik, the making of a Japanese cultural event
It almost went down the drain today ^^
Me and the main collaborator managed to save it from the brink of destruction because of one tiny little mistake.......
And Hassun.....if I somehow miraculously get a huge sudden inflow of cash, I am soooooooo making you visit!
And thank you for the congratulations Hassun, and yes.....it'll be far more worthy if it pulls fully through ^^

I am sure the event will be a success. Is this your first time doing something like this?
Re: Kabuki Électronik, the making of a Japanese cultural event
Yes.
This is the first time I organize an event that will attract more than 40 people and potentially to a maximum of about 400 people or even more if the publicity and interest of the people reaches its peaks......
*dies in advance, knowing that I might be saying my welcoming speech to so many people*
*remembers that I still have to write up my welcoming speech and dies again*
Re: Kabuki Électronik, the making of a Japanese cultural event
Sounds like you and your crew have lots of fun in store for all the attendees. I wish I had plethora of money so I could have come and be entertained. Would some video footage be available of this in time? Or pictures, perhaps?
Have a grand time tomorrow, Maxi. Hope you got your speech ready. =)
Re: Kabuki Électronik, the making of a Japanese cultural event
It's just about ready, just needs to be revised and edited.......meaning I'll have it done 30 minutes before I go on stage ^^
And it's a pleasure to hear from you kedar, one who indeed I would have loved to have attend.
All is set. The event will take place.
The people all confirmed their presence.
The schedule is made.
Last minute things to be done in the morning.
And now..........it all begins in 9 hours and 10 minutes!
*wishes to make a differnce*
