But at the same time, I've known dozens of hardcore Japanese otaku who are into these fetish groups but would NEVER dream of touching a real child.

Is Japan's cultural lolita complex getting out of hand? What does this mean for Japan's future? What does this mean for it's children? Do men who look at underage models or fantasize about sexual or romantic relationships with elementary school students pose a risk to REAL children? Should something be done legally to reign in the trend?

Wow, here's a subject that most people wouldn't touch with a ten yard pole! LOL.

I don't know what to say on this one, really. I mean, it's Japan!! You can buy teenaged girl's panties out of vending machines--beer too--so, I wasn't too suprised when I read on lolicon for the first time a couple of years back. This is a country that is WAY open about it's sexuality, so it may just be "the norm" there--or it's starting to be.

Don't get me wrong. I would never encourage someone to go off touching little girls (or boys for that matter) and I don't the idea of mentally scarring children. But every man has at least one point in time when they see a young girl (between 12-16) and say, "Man, if I were her age...."

But I can agree that it's kinda out of hand in Japan. Here in America, you'd go straight to jail just for having a loli-fetish. I mean, if you just like the art, I suppose it's cool. I mean, it's pretty much hentai and I love hentai artwork, but it depends on how far you take that fondness of the art. But that's just manga/anime. With real people, that's different. I can't condone men getting off on pics of little (I mean LITTLE) girls. What can you see sexually about a girl who hasn't even hit puberty??

Now I find that info quite disturbing. Having REAL grade school kids model in such manner is just...sickening. As for the anime figures and such I can accept the products themselves but in machines available for anyone!? No no, keep them in the 18+ section along with the hentai doujinshi and so on.

Hmmm, I can kinda understand what they mean by the "big brotherly" type of affection. "Little sister" cafes? Wow, thats like a 50/50 thing for me. The otaku side of me says its kinda interesting and the "regular" part of me says its weird and uncomfortable....

Again, this is a 50/50 thing...they say that since hentai anime, etc has been introduced that sexual crimes, etc has actually gone down. But at the same time this helps build up the idea of committing these acts in real life. The matter of fact is that its all up to the will power, sense, and moral of the individuals

Its wrong on SO many levels. I don't care if it is a fetish. Say what you want but that can soon escalte to REAL men touching REAL kids just for the thril or the experience.

=_= i don't like it at all, i find it very creepy and unsettling...

and besides, lolicon/pedophelia has been a part of Japanese culture for a long time. i mean, look at Genji, the fricken icon of Japan. he basically stole a little girl and raised her to become his perfect wife... but the super creepy thing is, it was infered that he was already attracted to her when he first kidnapped her (she was 10ish)... but then again, i have a lot of problems with Genji...

anyway, as for if they would actually rape a little girl... yes, yes i think if an lolicon otaku got desperate enough he would, and then he would get caught and publically persecuted... but A LOT of men would be thinking what would happen if they did the same thing... and not just the negatives, if you know what i mean.

and as for the cafes... creepy, not surprised by it, but still super creepy! sure it's the brotherly love... but what, you want to touch your sister? get away from them you freak! the little figurines? i'm sure they have more skeevy little dolls for men to play with... in more obvious places...

=_= sorry if i come off a little hard, i don't agree with the mindset MOST Japanese men have towards women... i know and believe that not all of them hold those values, but that seems to be the prominent viewpoint.
