Question Marriage life in Japan

I have ever wondered how are the married couples in Japan?
Is it like the woman follows everythig the man says or does she have a voice in the decisions of the house? Do they are allowed to work and provide for the family or "the woman suppose to be in the house"? Does she have to serve her husband by a command or does she serve him because she feels it?
I would like to know...

Japan is pretty... modern, you know. I'd go as far as to say that compared to women in other countries, Japanese women (in a family) have bigger says. Not that they overrule their husbands, but it's more of a 50-50 thing in decision-making, as opposed to in some places where the husband kicks up a ruckus if he doesn't get things to go his way. And I'm going by experience here. That said, there are, of course, households with more authoritarian views... it's pretty much like it is elsewhere.

Re: Marriage life on Japan

I think they are like any other couple around the world. Except for some of the countries in the middle east. At least they are not like China. Where they have to be careful at the kids that they make [have].

No. As in they cannot give birth to more than two kids. And they have to be either two boys, or a boy and girl each. Or is it no longer like that?

China's birth policies aren't that simple. In urbanized areas you can only have 1 child. In more rural areas you can have 2 if the first child isn't male.
However, the rules tend to vary from area to area and the degree of enforcing them varies too.
Recently, the policy has been changed i some areas because of the negative growth rates.

Anyway, back on topic. All of you who say that it's pretty much the same as in the Western world are wrong. There are large differences between the status of women in the Western world compared to Asia/Japan. It IS true that more and more women are becoming more independent in these modern times but the difference is still pretty big.
Until VERY recent history, the Japanese never had the ideal of marrying out of love. It was an arrangement between families.

Yeah, I heard about that. But I didn't think it'd be recently that they'd finally figure out that they don't have to do that. I'm glad that they can marry out of love. It's what is best for themselves, anyhow. Well.. for some people, anyway.
