A Quick note on abreviation. read please

Minna Do not abriviate Japanese to 'Jap'. If you do not know it is a very offensive term originating from WWII. I know none of you mean for it to be offensive, and that you just want something shorter to type, but pleasde try to find something else to use.

i didn't know it could be considered as offensive till now, but people use it so often just to save time. Besides, cantonese is often refered to as 'canto', etc. But if it really is offensive, then i guess, i'll hav to find something else to abbrivate it.

With the number of views, people are reading, even if they do not post about it. I, for one, did not use the term to begin with anyways so that is why I did not post a reply. That may be the case with the others who have read this topic.

Certainly, it's quite very offensive!! To me, it's an inflammatory/disparaging term, that pisses me off when people use it to associate Japanese girls and culture. Yeah, like you said, it's related to World War II. I know, it's an obvious abbreviation, but I prefer the term Japan, instead.

    Reason for editing:

To make what I said be more serious. Sorry, Charmed!
