i was rewathing the mummy returns the other day and i noticed that the two girls were fighting with sais
aren't they an oriental weapon in origin and if so why were they using them in ancient egypt this is really bugging me so if someone can help post here:help::help:

Well, you're correct. That is off...
I'm not sure if they were introduced in Egypt...
They spanned off from Japan... with China, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia...
Even its ancestor version, the San Ku Chu, was from Japan.
However, since no evidence claims that Egypt had any form of weapon related to the Sai of Japan, it would then prove once again that Hollywood chose something that would look cool for a fight.
Either that, or producers didn't do a back-checking on the history of weapons...

well, fortunately "the mummy" is a fictional movie, so the space-time continuum remains intact.
just kidding. sort of.
yeah thats weird because im guessing the sai is purely japanese and the director of the movie decided to use them because it looked cool.
