All anime is originally made in japan, it is just dubbed here(and poorly in most cases).

We kind of stole the idea from the japanese, it was all really they're idea and form of cartoon.

and we did not steal the idea from the Japanese
we only stole their drawing styles
shows like Teen Titans, Ben 10, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Totally Spies are just western cartoons based on Japanese anime

and the word "anime" is derived from "Japanese animation" or according to some, "Japanimation"
of course, "Japanimation" is considered offensive to others due to the racial slur "Jap", but... yeah...
"Japanimation" is incorrect and people that say that that is what "anime" comes from is merely a misinformed fool
some "anime" comes from mostly China, Korea, and various countries of Asia
there is also imitation anime coming out of America and Europe (mainly France)
France has cooked up imitation anime like Code Lyoko and Totally Spies
all of these are not in fact considered "anime" but just "anime-influenced cartoons"
