I just have a question, haven't you noticed that many series have 26/52 episodes or at least seasons that long? Is there a reason to this? Commercial? Story-wise? Because it makes me think that if series are imparted a certain number of episodes, it kind of limits the creativity?
There is 52 weeks on a year, so they program the series based on that particular number of weeks (52 eps = 1 year of programing, 26 eps = 1/2 year) ... Thats also why the smaller series are 13 chapters long....
Ah interesting I see, it's weird because over here when there's an anime serie on TV there's minimum a new episode each day :)
But I guess it's primarily like that for Japan, although I find it sad, it would mean it goes on TV on holidays when people might not be watching TV.
Yes, you might see them as "seasons" ie: 4 seasons in a year
13+13=26 , 26+26=52 , or 12+26=38
Examples:
13 eps. "serial experiments lain"
26 eps: " Last Exile", "Evangelion"
38 eps: "Nadia: the secret of blue water"
52 eps: "I actually can't think of one right now..."
So most anime's have a total of 13, 26, 38, or 52 episodes. Of course there are animes that go on forever such as Naruto.
