this is a question concerning dling using firefox [i dunno if this was posted b4, wasnt in search so bear wit me]
when u download a setup prog using ie, u can run it witout saving it, but i noticed with firefox, opening it isnt an option at all. is this just me and is there a way to open it?

Bahh, ignore my eariler comment. I misread.
Yes. Just leave the download window open and click 'open' when it is done, or, download the 'download statusbar' extension so when it is complete you can just click it open it there.
You may want to check out their fourms and helpfiles for customs settings. I would imagine there is some way to enable *.exe files to be run.

No doubt that Firefox was DESIGNED not to permit automatic execution of a downloaded file by malicious web sites and email trojans. You'll just have to download (and virus check!!) the setup program befor running it...
Some versions, earlier ones I assume, can go ahead and run .exe's like IE can, but the newer versions do require you to save an .exe to disk. I dunno why, exactly, but it prolly does have something to do with security.
