action or storyline?

I wanted to know what people think makes an anime good. The action, the storyline, or some thing else.

Both, you can't have action for no reason, there has to be a reason on why this action is occuring.

I think the best anime have a combination.

As Samurai said, there's no reason to have a storyline with action in it. Of course, it's even better when you have plot and action and comedy and sadness all mingled together.

i would have to say storyline 'cause not all good anime are just action....

Any form of film or cartoon etc has a balance of both. Or at least some form of excitement.

i think that there should never be just one or the other it should have both storyline and action kind of like...... elfen lied

Take Dragonball for example, its mostly fighting, yeah yeah it has a storyline, but a very small one that usually just repeats, and you always know theres gonna be some 6 eisode fight, lol. I believe the storyline makes it important but there has to be some other eye catching-mind grabbing thing that jsut gets your attention.

I would say both. Whats the point of having all this action and the story doesnt go anywhere. When the characters are done fighting they are bakc where they started but just exhausted.
