The reason why we are treated that way is because the older generation was treated like that when they were younger. And its been like that for centuries. The younger you are the less experience you have. That's just the way it is.
Sometimes, that doesn't matter either. How much prior experience you've had with forums, and your friends at a forum can reduce your "n00bness" level, as I'll call it. I've been here less than a year, but then again, this place got shafted around that time too.
As for adults in real life, that reminds me of something my g-pa once said, "children are better seen, not heard," that speaks alot in itself.

Right, and the only way to overcome that tradition is to get experiance. Like me for instance; when it comes to graphic design, I don't know much at all, which is why I'm practicing with it. That way not only will I get betteer at it, but I'll know what I'm talking about and therefore not show my age.
